A Grace That We Truly Didn't Deserve

The Bible tells a beautiful story of the amazing and unfailing love that God has for us! In Genesis 3, the Bible tells of how Eve was deceived by the serpent into doing the one thing that God told them not to do... eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. And after Eve ate of the tree, she gave some to Adam, thus opening their eyes, and removing their innocence.

Later on in the Bible the Lord gave the Israelites, through Moses, the law, which was not just the 10 commandments that most of know, but there were 613 laws that were given to the people. See God is Holy, and anyone who came to Him, would need to be Holy as well. But God knew that the people could not keep even the 10 commandments, much less the 613... and they were never meant to kept. Actually the Bible says in Hebrews 7:18-19, that that law was weak and unprofitable, because it could make nothing perfect.

So, if God knew the people couldn't keep the 10 commandments, much less the 613, why did God create them? That is easily explained in Romans 5:20 that says, "Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound."

God created the law, not so we would try to follow it, but so we would understand that we couldn't follow it. The law was created so that we would understand how sinful we really were.

See God wanted the people to know that there would be no way that they could be perfect like God... that is unless they were made perfect, through a perfect sacrifice that God Himself sent to make them perfect again. Romans 5:8 tells us that, "God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Jesus came for everyone that was willing to accept His sacrifice. BUT Jesus didn't just clean our sins, He removed them. And in doing so, He rejoined us to God, in every way. We were even given the Holy Spirit to live inside of us (1 Corinthians 6:19), as a reminder that we are God's children!

Understand that no matter what you have heard in the past, God loves you! God doesn't need you, we need Him! God doesn't want anything from you, He wants you!
