A Time To Count Your Blessings
Psalm 103 begins, "Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name!"
David, whom God said was a man after His own heart, knew that anytime was a good time to praise the Lord. David praised God when everything was going good in his life. Giving praise to God in the good times, not only thanks God for what He's done for and through you. But it also reminds us that we are nothing without God. It reminds us that we were destined to for hell, if God had not redeemed us, so everything that we do, and everything that He does through us, is because of Him! But David didn't just praise God in the good times, David also praised God when things were falling down around Him! In the rough times, we need to praise God, to let Him know that we don't love Him because He gives us stuff. We should love Him, just because He is! Praising God in the bad times, is also a reminder to ourselves that God is a good God, and He has never failed us before, so He won't fail us now. It's a reminder that no matter how dark it gets, there is always a light on the way!
In either way, Psalm 103, is a reminder for us to always praise God, as reminder that He will never leave us, or forget us. It's a reminder for us of how great He is!
Psalm 103:1-5 Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
