Stay Focused On The Goal

Hebrews 12:1-2 says, "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author (originator) and finisher (perfecter) of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

When we go through the storms of life… and they beat up against us, we tend to focus on the storm… and ask God, why is this happening to me?

But instead of focusing on why the storm is in your life, do like Hebrews says, and do not allow those things that come up in life, but instead, concentrate on, Jesus, the author (originator) and finisher (perfecter) of our faith… but don’t stop reading there... who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross.

What would be joyful about going to the cross? US

Jesus didn’t focus on the storm, He focused on what would come out of the storm. Jesus focused on doing the work, and because He continued to focus on the work, because He continued to focus on the mission, He was able to endure the shame. Because He was so focused on the joy that would come out of the work, because He was so focused on US… Jesus was able to endure the cross and complete His work!
