The Original Radicals

- We ask for God to use us like the early disciples, but at the same time sometimes we are unwilling to walk by faith, and not by sight. Instead, we plan and back-up plan, and back-up plan for our back-up plan… if we can’t plan it, or see it, we don’t do it… which really just pushes God out altogether. The early disciples didn't do that. They walked by faith, trusting that God would do His part, if they first did theirs. There was such a major change that took place in the disciples after Jesus was crucified and resurrected, Just a short time before, Peter and John was fearful of the Sanhedrin, and then in Acts 4, Peter and John courageously stood before the Sanhedrin, and boldly chastised the same religious leaders that had Jesus crucified. That change was because Jesus was now living on th1 inside of them!

Acts 4:13

13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus. - When you give your life to God, and develop your relationship with Him, you will be bold in the things of God. You will begin to act on what the Word of God says, instead of just knowing what it says!

And when you do that… when you begin to walk by faith, and not by sight, and allow the Holy Spirit to work through you… people will take notice that you have been with Jesus!

Acts 4:19-20 19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.

20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”

They are saying, we don’t care about the repercussions for what we are doing, but know this, no matter what you do to us, we are going to tell people about Jesus… we are going to share the gospel!

We have a job to do… we can no longer be scared of what people think of us, or what we think the devil can do to us We are the one’s that write our story… no one else! Romans 8:14-19 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs - heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.

That doesn't mean that the world is awaiting for God to reveal those who are sons of God. But that the world is eagerly waiting for the sons of God to understand who they are in Christ, and to stop acting just like servants of God, and begin to act like sons of God. The Holy Spirit lives inside of you, and is a part of you. The Holy Spirit is a part of you… you are one!! 1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? Think about that I can’t heal anyone by myself, but the Holy Spirit can, so in Christ I have access to that, and we (the Holy Spirit and I) can heal. I can’t understand all things, but the Holy Spirit does, so I have access to that... and Christ, I can (through the Holy Spirt) know all things! The Holy Spirit lives in you... He is a part of you… what you need He has… and because He lives in you, you have access to everything the Holy Spirit has! The early disciples realized that, and drew upon the power of the Holy Spirit to do the signs, wonders, and miracles that allowed them to not only be bold in preaching the gospel, but also to heal the sick and lame, and repair the destruction of the enemy… by saving and redeeming the lost, setting free the captives, and fully restoring everything back to God’s original design and purpose. You then know that everything that you can draw on anything that the Holy Spirit has or knows…

When the early disciples did what they knew they should do, they were effective... extremely effective. Don’t get me wrong, there was extreme opposition, but there was also an extreme amount of miracles.

Disciples of Jesus didn’t consider themselves radical, but the world did

Disciples of Jesus weren't considered radical for just being followers of Jesus… but for acting like a follower of Jesus, who acted like Christ!
